I had been raised reading the comics from the newspapers. Ah, those were the good o’ days until my family stopped ordering the weekdays and only resorted to the Sunday editions. Few years ago, I noticed on a friend’s blog that she posted a comic from White Ninja. And through its webcomic ring (Daypress), I found others that are superb and awesome. And then, I started to come across a few random ones. And other webcomics beget links to other webcomics. And so it goes. If there is one thing I need to do on the Internet besides checking emails, it is getting my daily fix of webcomics.
On a side note, Fleen is a blog about webcomics (and it includes a list of links to various webcomics on the right side).
These are the some of the ones I currently read and recommend as of 9/9/08 (recently added to the list are Kevin & Kell and Unshelved):
White Ninja (Updates Mon, Wed, Fri)- The webcomic that launched my addiction to webcomics. In the beginning, I warn you it gets a bit gory, but some of the comic strips (like the unicorn) are strangely profound for such a spontaneous comic.
Beaver and Steve (Updates Tues, Fri)- A very colorful and creative webcomic. Like White Ninja, has a bit of goriness to it, but the style is so playful and cartoony. Its random, imaginative humor and amusing written sound effects are a must.
Patches (Updates Tues, Wed, Thurs)- A three-panel written on what appears to be a brown sheet of paper about these creatures observing and making random jokes.
Kevin & Kell (Updates daily)- If you want an old-school webcomic, this is the one. It started in 1996 and still continues today. It is about a rabbit and wolf who got married and their lives.
Will Write For Chocolate (Updates Wed)- A freelance writer living with other writers of other disciplines such as poetry, science-fiction and romance and the random literary shenanigins that happens among them.
Tales from the Slush Pile (Updates Thurs)- Follows the life of a children’s book writer who pursues after his art and struggles against rejections.
Unshelved (Updates daily)- Captures the sarcasm and mishaps at Mallville library.
Cow and Buffalo (Updates Sun)- For all ages (besides the “udder” humor from time to time). Its drawing style and jokes blend in very well.
Dan and Pete (Updates Wed)- Looks into the life of a ordinary, boy-next-door name Pete and his roommate, a charistmatic superhero Dan.
Boys Will Be Boys (Updates Wed)- The same author of Dan and Pete released another webcomic two weeks ago. A spinoff of Dan and Pete with Pete as the star without Dan’s charisma to bother him. Unlike Dan and Pete, this does feature mature themes; I warned you.
Deadend (Updates Tues and Thurs)- Well, this is my webcomic; nothing graphically ground-breaking if you ask me. I would say random humor is there all right. The previous webcomics I recommended do reflect on my taste and style of humor.
